The school that will take you far
Ådalsskolan is an Upper Secondary school with an exciting blend of many different educational programs and courses to study. We are proud of the great variety and possibilities which the school offers.
An overall goal for us is to give both students and personnel a safe and secure learning environment.
Our vision is that the students will have a positive learning experience where they develop both knowledge and skills which they can take with them throughout their life.
A word from the Principal
We have eleven exciting educational programs to choose from and our goal is to give the students the best opportunity available to help them succeed in their studies regardless of which program they choose. The school also wants to aid the students in their transition into the adult world by establishing good social relations between the student, fellow-classmates and our personnel. Our hope is that all students will apply themselves both in educational learning and in taking part in the activities offered by the school so that they receive maximal knowledge and skills needed for life after their upper secondary studies are completed.
I usually say you should look at each lesson as an investment in itself. The school also emphasizes the importance for each student to take responsibility for their own studies and through this, to strengthen the student’s own belief in his or her personal abilities.
Our most popular individual elective course is driver education. Upon taking this course, the student receives 10 driving lessons along with theory instruction. This in itself leads to many students getting their driver’s license while completing their upper secondary studies. In addition, we also offer other interesting elective courses that suit students interested in sports as well as other activities.
Upper Secondary school is an important time in a student’s life and our wish is that all students will be able to look back with joy at the time spent at our school.

The history of Ådalsskolan
Ådalsskolan’s history stems back from Gudmundrå Upper Elementary school which started their activities in 1879 and Gudmundrå Junior Secondary school which began in 1926. The Upper Secondary school itself started in 1958 and later developed into an integrated Upper Secondary school in 1972. The current building for the school was built in 1967 with additions built in 1973.
The school was opened on November 30, 1967, by the then head of the Board of Education Olof Palme. The County Governor Hjalmar Nilsson gave a speech and also, a prologue by the author Birger Norman was read by the writer himself. Through the building of the new school, conditions were set to make Kramfors the educational center of Ådalen.
After that many famous people have had their basic education at Ådalsskolan. One of the most famous is the Hollywood actor Hans “Dolph” Lundgren, who graduated with honors from the Natural Science program at Ådalsskolan in 1974.
Over the last few years, there has been endless reconstruction of the school. The School of Culture has been given new location and the Electrical program has a new place which is suited for their needs. The Special school has newly adjusted locations, and there is also new space for students being created in the hallways closest to the auditorium.
The current construction is expected to be completed by the summer and there are already finished plans for continuation if the budget allows.
We have come a long way since 1879.
